What Makes  our High Holy Days Special

What makes High Holy Days at Congregation Shma Koleinu truly inspiring? It's not because we don't require fees, dues, or membership for our High Holy Day passes (but those don't hurt!), it's really because...

  • Our High Holy Days are intellectually and emotionally stimulating. Rabbi Scott's commitment to themes that shine light on the most pressing issues of our personal lives - relationships, communication, self-awareness - underpin the traditions of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. You will depart from our High Holy Days journey having experienced a soulful retreat, feeling inspired to take the next steps towards your own wholeness.
  • Our High Holy Days are musically illuminating,  The vibe of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur 2022, led expertly by consummate musicians: Band Director Kelly Dean, Cantorial Soloist Hannah Madeline Goodman, Accompanist Andrew Lienhard, Trumpeter and Shofar sounder Noe Marmalejo, Guitarists Josh Sheiman and Lenny Golub, and Cellist Daphnee Johnson will awaken the deadened and weak spirits in all of us. The respect for tradition melded with an exuberant appreciation for modern sound will deliver the beauty of our tradition to the depths of your soul.
  • Our High Holy Days are self-reflective, meditative and inspiring.  Their purpose is simple and rather intense - to reawaken one to the personal actions, decisions and strivings that draw us closer to our best selves - humbly recognizing that we are human and "best" therefore is always fleeting.
  • As we enter into our tenth year, CSK's significant volunteer base has helped mold and shape the High Holy Day journey.  We get better with each new year (this is year #9!), committed to making Jewish life accessible and meaningful for all Jews, Jewish families and those who love them.
