The great irony of CSK is that our success demands that we speak about money more than less. We haven’t always done it, but that doesn’t make it less important. We insist on making Jewish life accessible to all and thus we remain committed that our High Holy Days are OPEN TO ALL. Everyone is invited. As we say, “Join us…You Already Belong.”
And there is a difference between Open and Free. You and all those you love are welcome and there is no fee or payment required, on your side. However, there are many on the part of CSK, in that we must rent spaces, pay staff, order food, and handle all of the miscellany of any event. We are indeed so very grateful to our High Holy Day Underwriters this year AND we still need your help.
Today is the 1st day of Elul. The month leading to the 1st of Tishrei (Rosh Hashanah). This is a moment meant for introspection and self-reflection. We each express ourselves in the world with thought, with speech, with time, and with dollars.
I am asking you today to think seriously about what CSK is worth to you. When you sign up for your High Holy Days passes, please remember that thanks to past generosity, these voluntary contributions have become one of our most important program fundraisers of the year. We rely on you to continue to make CSK possible. There is no large endowment backing us up and no ”whales” ensuring that we’ll always be here. You (no, I really mean, “You,”) are our “insurance” and we hope you feel that we continue to be a solid investment.
May this month of Elul become a wonderful month of planting seeds and harvesting grand rewards.
