Weekend Programming Schedule

Friday, February 17, 2023 Shabbat Dinner and Presentation: "THE WONDER OF HEBREW LETTERS"
7:30 pm - 9:00 pm Shabbat Dinner & Presentation (Shabbat Services will be at 6:30 pm) at First Unitarian Universalist - 5200 Fannin St.

  • Ever wonder why English is written left to right and Hebrew right to left? Or why English has upper and lower case letters and Hebrew doesn’t? Or why both have pretty much the same number of letters with the same sounds? This fascinating presentation will leave you with a deep appreciation of how very similar – and very different – these two language cousins are.

Family Shabbat Morning, February 18, 2023 - "JEWISH COLORS VALUES" For Young Families, Parents & Grandparents (the whole mishpucha is welcome!) No charge for this event. Donations encouraged.
10 am - 12 pm  at the ERJCC - 5601 S. Braeswood Blvd.

  • What shape is “compassion”? What color is “justice”? In this simple-to-learn project, inter-generational members of our community explore and share their values, while drawing together and creating as artistic equals.

Shabbat Afternoon February 18, 2023 - "HEBREW CALLIGRAPHY FOR BEGINNERS" No charge for this event. Donations encouraged.
2 pm - 5 pm  at the Holocaust Museum Houston - 5401 Caroline St.

  • Come explore the beauty and mystery of the alef-bet! This workshop will teach you to hand-letter the 22 Hebrew letters of the alef-bet, and then hone your new skill in crafting a style that is uniquely your own.

Adults Motzei Shabbat Evening Saturday, February 18, 2023: "MANDALAS, MAKERS MARK & MERLOT"  ADULTS ONLY
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm  at the West University Community Center - 4210 Bellaire Blvd.
