Rabbi Scott Hausman -Weiss

“A mid-day break”…”A connection to community”…”The music”…”The opportunity to offer a Mi Shebeirach prayer, and focus for just a few moments, in the midst of the busy-ness of the day, on my loved one, my friend, who is ill…in the hospital…struggling for comfort and ease”…”Without a fixed time to do so, my prayers for channeling gratitude can so easily go unrequited.”

A couple of weeks ago on 3M, I asked the participants on that day, why they regularly or semi-regularly continue to join us for our 10-12 minute, online music, meditation and Mi Shebeirach moment.  Listed above are some of what they shared with me.

See, for those of you who may have forgotten, CSK launched “10@Noon,” an, every weekday, mid-day zoom gathering, in April, 2020.  Quickly shifting to online efforts to keep us connected, 10@Noon gathered many of you, daily, along with amazing musicians, who themselves were joining us from their lockdowns, so appreciative for the opportunity.  In July 2021, when we all thought that the pandemic had reached its climax, I expected our online sessions to cease, but instead we shifted to an, every Monday & Thursday time frame called “3M,” and we continue to this day.  Dan Nichols and Josh Goldberg join us quite often, offering their golden voices and expert musicianship, that take us all on a momentary, mid-day journey of the heart.  It’s a 10-12 minute period of time, often touched by tears, laughter, and joy.

And as it continues, my only question is why every one of you doesn’t join us, but occasionally.  Surely, you have days that would benefit from a 10-minute soulful infusion of meaning and connection.  Maybe you’re waiting for an invitation.  OK!  Here it is…

To whom this does concern,

You are cordially invited to “3M- Music, Meditation and Mi Shebeirach,” any Monday and Thursday, at Noon, to join us, on occasion, whenever you are so moved, for 10ish minutes of joy and reflection, blessings, and song.

As Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel taught, “Prayer does not save us, but it may make us worthy of being saved.”
