Closed Captioning Instructions

We are committed to ensuring that our High Holy Days Livestream is accessible to those who are hearing impaired or those who just like to read along!

All of our High Holy Days Livestream services will be closed captioned on YouTube Live. Closed Captioning will also be available by way of “Streamtext,” utilizing your phone, tablet or other device.  The “Streamtext” edition is mostly for backup in case the Closed Captioning of the YouTube Livestream doesn’t work.  You never know!

  1. For YouTube Live, it is VERY simple.  Once you are watching our fabulous Livestream, if you do not see the subtitles, be sure to click the “CC” box at the bottom of the screen.  This will turn on (or off) the subtitles.  If it gives you a choice, you don’t want to use the automatically generated subtitles.  Instead, make sure you have chosen “cc1.”
  2. You can also access the subtitles via “Settings” (the little Jewish star at the bottom of the screen) to do the same as in #1 as well as to make the subtitle font larger or smaller, darker or lighter, etc.
  3. If you need to, or would like to access the Closed Captioning text only, you can click this link at any time during any and all of the High Holy Day Livestream services: Closed Captioning Link for Shma Koleinu High Holy Days 2020
