One of the most important Commandments of Judaism is to remember, lizkor.  We seek to remember because Jewish religion teaches us that we gain strength, wisdom and the ability to see further than those who came before us when we pay attention to the lives they lead. On Yom Kippur afternoon, we commemorate the passing of close relatives and dear friends with a service inspired by liturgy that causes us to lament.  Judaism isn’t a tradition built on lamentation but it is one that has committed itself never forgetting those who came before.

At Shma Koleinu’s Yizkor service, we present a slideshow that consists of the names and photographs of loved ones and dear friends of our community. This slideshow has continued to grow, since its inception several years ago and we hope that you will add to it in order that we continue to grow the power and depth of our memory.  Please join us for this most moving service, Monday, September 28, 4:30 pm
