Introduction/Re-Introducton to Judaism

Judaism is as complicated as it is rather simple.  On the one hand, there is a seemingly never-ending variety of “Judaisms” that have manifest over eons.  The Jewish people’s love for the details, complications, texts, sub-texts, and sub-sub-texts, issues forth a generationally bequeathed mindset that always seeks to dig deeper.   On the other hand, it was the great Rabbi Hillel himself, who taught, “What is hateful to you, do not do to another.  That is the whole Torah, all the rest is commentary.  Z’il gamur – Go and learn it!”

Many intro classes run an entire year and attempt to cover what we rabbis learn over the course of years!  This course won’t run a year and will seek to meet you where you are, and then draw you in a bit deeper.  This Intro course is only 6 sessions and will seek to go deep rather than wide.  I invite you to join us on this journey of learning as together we learn and uncover what Judaism offers everyone interested in opening their hearts to it.  As you will see, the subject matter will be set in part according to the Jewish calendar, thus our first session this Thursday will focus on Purim (as Purim falls this weekend!) We will focus on Passover as we approach it, and the other sessions will provide you with opportunities to go deeper on other subjects such as Zionism, Shabbat, God and the Jewish Life Cycle.  So what are you waiting for!?
