An exploration of character traits through the lenses of Jewish ethical literature. Musar Literature refers to a body of Jewish ethical writings that teach how to live a good, moral, and spiritually balanced life. Originating in the Middle Ages, Musar texts
focus on developing personal virtues, combining practical guidance with spiritual insight, aiming to help individuals refine their character (middot) and live in alignment with Jewish values.
Bring Your Own Lunch and Join Rabbi Scott for engaging study and conversation based on Musar: Jewish Ethical Literature.
Our main study texts will draw from two books: Everyday Holiness by Alan Morinnis and The Mussar Torah Commentary, Edited by Rabbi Barry Block. We encourage you to purchase The Mussar Torah Commentary for the class. If you don’t have the book,
texts will be provided.
